The wage gap is one way women are left behind

In Canada, Women make 89 cents to every dollar a man makes. They also retire with 30% less than their male counterparts. Women are faced with maternity penalties, ageism in the workplace, systemic biases, and workplaces that weren’t made for them. It’s even worse for people from the global majority, disabled and LGBTQAI2S+.

I have had the privilege of designing two panel conversations about this topic with experts I trust including Janelle Benjamin, Founder and Chief Equity Officer at All Things Equitable Inc. and Allison Venditti, Founder of Moms at Work, and both the Federal and Ontario Pay Equity Commissioners.

Working 9 to 5: What a way to make less than a man - Recording

My first event on the gender wage gap in Canada was hosted as part of the Coralus Confluence 2022.

In this powerful conversation, you’ll hear the root issues that hold women back at work and some solutions to make the workplace somewhere women want to be.

CanWCC Webinar Host

I have weekly conversations with business owners about their businesses and create the space for them to share about themselves and their businesses. I produce an engaging event that delivers brand awareness for these business owners and a deep connection to potential customers, partners and colleagues.

Capital-isms - Host

Join me and Jamie Walker for three seasons of Capital-isms. A podcast where we talk about all the things that are keeping you stuck in our late-stage capitalist world. From oppression, to racism, to the monetary system, we explain how we got here, and why we need to look at capitalism for what it really is.

Listen anywhere you get your podcasts.

I love being with people. Come meet me in my element, hosting live and virtual events for women business owners. I love decorating, feminism, dismantling capitalism and patriarcy and watching lawn care videos on YouTube. I appreciate good conversation and great friendship. A third-generation entrepreneur, I know how to do a lot of things, and as the daughter of a magician, I know how to put on a good show.

Hi, I’m Jenna

“What the hell is this? Why am I asking people what they want to be paid? Like, why don't you just tell them on the job posting? It is insulting to people to drag them through that process. To be like, Oh, by the way, we actually want to pay you $30,000 more than what you're actually taking and how awful of you for like not saying anything.”

—Allison Venditti on salary disclosure in workplaces.
