Let’s grow together

The Roller Derby Collective

Starting or running a roller derby league is hard work. There is no manual, and since the pandemic stopped the sport in it’s tracks, many leagues have had to start over, rebuild from scratch, and have lost the senior skaters who built connections across the globe. The Roller Derby Collective is a project I’m starting to build community, resources and programming that supports the growth of roller derby.

Primarily delivered in English, we’ll have quarterly networking, an international drill book, information events, and I’ll keep this site updated with important resources you may need.

Coming Hot Into The Box

Check out all the episodes with many derby legends, including one of my favourites, Derby Nerd! Toronto Roller Derby was fortunate to have D.D. Miller chronicle our league and the world of roller derby’s existence from the beginning to mid-2016 in his book Eight-Wheeled Freedom: The Derby Nerd’s Short History of Flat Track Roller Derby.

Hi, I’m Mia Culprit

I love being with people and skating fast in circles. Working in roller derby for almost a decade and playing for nearly 20 years, I am a founding member of Toronto Roller Derby, and now part of the team that restarted Winnipeg Roller Derby after the pandemic. I have played on home teams, travel teams, provincial teams, pickup teams, rollercon teams and been involved in all levels of roller derby business. Outside of roller derby, I love decorating, feminism, accessibility and inclusion, and team building. I appreciate good conversation and great friendship. As a third-generation entrepreneur, I know how to do a lot of things, and as the daughter of a magician, I know how to put on a good show.

Let’s Connect

Yes, that’s me as a Hurl Scout! I’ve got decades of experience setting up legendary marketing events for the sport of roller derby, so if you need support on your big idea, need resources or want to pick my brain on how you can create incredible roller derby promotions, or if you want to share your legendary experience with The Collective, please reach out!

Join my Roll-O-Dex Info List

I’m collecting league and skater information from around the globe to share resources and events when I’m hosting them, and when I see other events in the derbysphere I think you need to know about. Signing up means you’ll get infrequent emails from me, but it also means I can connect you to others across the globe who may want to connect!
